Royalty Chess

Royalty Chess is a team of professional Chess teachers and trainers working hand in hand with schools across the nation since 2008, to provide a standard regulated chess teaching program that is adapted specially for the Nigerian educational system. We call it the CMIP plan, which is an acronym for Chess Mathematics Interactive Programme.

This basically is a mapped out step by step guide to chess understanding and proficiency. The CMIP features a teacher’s training schedule for each term,with new exiting topics for class interaction each week and a workbook series called the Chess Reasoning workbook series Level 1-7 designed to be used from primary 1 to Jss2.

Our Objective

In every School we operate in Royalty Chess has a simple objective, to noticably improve critical thinking ability in children using Chess as our tool. According to research Chess has been shown to be a vital educational resource for developing children in the areas of strategic thinking and planning, eye- brain coordination,weighing options, problem solving, cultivating patience and calmness while thinking or concentrating and a list of other skills that directly affect general academic performance.

Learning Chess makes kids smarter and better equipped to think independently and be creative in the 21st century. In Chess they learn, unlearn and relearn, they attempt different plans and strategies to attack and defend , they think abstractly and outside the box to find solutions to puzzling postions,they collaborate with their team mates and coaches to analyse games and compare best move ideas, consequently, logical analytical minds are being groomed to shape the future and bring forth a better Nigeria.

Our History

Royalty Chess was developed from a kids chess club that rose to scholastic chess prominence from Nepa Staff School Egbin Lagos in 2008 our lessons proved to be highly effective and we saw chess champions made from scratch in matter of weeks with our teaching program, winning gold and silver medals at events like The Candy Kids Chess festival in Meadow hall School Lekki in 2009 and the Pedachess all Primary School Chess Championship in Chrisland School Opebi from 2011. By 2012 we went in for specialised training from the World Chess Federation FIDE held in Abuja Nigeria for Chess Educators and Obtained our National Instructor Diploma.

We then came back to Lagos to develop the CMIP School Chess Plan, In no time we scaled up our services hiring and training new instructors teaching them how to adopt the CMIP training plan as we began to move into high profile schools across Lagos and Abuja and the rest is history, we currently run our CMIP chess teaching curriculum in over 100 schools in Lagos, Abuja and other eastern and western States in Nigeria. Our dream is to impact every child in the continent of Africa with the potential of Chess to improve leadership skills and create a better future for it’s people.
